How to Grow Your Blog to Scale Your Tutoring Business
Let me start by saying blogging is not dead. I’m not sure who started that rumor, but let me tell you, blogging + Pinterest = massive growth for your online tutoring business. I love blogging so much that this whole month on the blog is dedicated to growing your business using blogging. Blogging takes time and dedication to get good at. One of my favorite quotes from Peloton is “How you do anything is how you do everything.” Blogging is no exception. You’re likely making growing your tutoring business much harder than it needs to be. With consistent blogging, over time, your business will grow.
Every online entrepreneur needs a way to share content
Blogging is the perfect way to share your content with the world and position yourself as an expert in your niche. Don’t worry if you’re not a “perfect writer.” Writing your blog posts in your voice is going to attract your ideal customer and help build your business over time. My students inside Tutorpreneur Academy® who start blogging have seen tremendous growth over time in their businesses. You can too if you just start!
Use your blog to nurture your audience
Every online entrepreneur needs a way to share content. If you’re abiding by the 80/20 rule, that means you’re giving away 80% of your content for free and 20% is your content inside your offers (paid services). This could be your tutoring services, coaching program, online course, or teaching resources. The possibilities are endless and the best way to create the like, know and trust factor with your audience is to show up weekly with new content that addresses their pain points. Every online business owner needs to have a place where they’re sharing content that helps their audience. Creating content on a weekly basis is a great way to nurture your audience. It’s also a great way to get new people on your email list. By sharing your blog posts on social media and Pinterest, you’ll reach a new group of people who are dying for the information you have to share.
Grow your email list by linking your lead magnet in every blog post
You created your lead magnet for a reason: to help your ideal client solve their problem in exchange for their email address! It’s a perfectly great way to grow your list while helping your ideal customer. Your lead magnet isn’t going to sell itself. Creating blog posts that solve problems for your ideal client will not only build trust in your teacher brand, but it will also help increase your email list when people can hardly resist to download your irresistible lead magnet. Inside Tutorpreneur Academy®, we focus a lot on using your blog to grow your email list. Starting and growing your email list should always be at the forefront of your mind when blogging.
Solve problems for your ideal client on your blog and watch your email list grow
You’re probably going to get sick of hearing me say this, but solving problems is going to be the bread and butter of your online business. Start keeping track of the questions your followers and clients ask you. I recommend keeping a Google form that has all the questions you’ve been asked. When you’re having a hard time coming up with content, go to your list! Even when you’re full of good ideas, go back to the list and use the questions you’ve been asked. When you use your ideal customer’s language, you are relating to them and becoming an expert in your niche. Not sure what your niche is yet? I’ll help you get clear on your tutoring niche and messaging inside Tutorpreneur Academy®.
Soft sell your services, products and teaching resources
One of the most amazing things a blog can do for you is soft selling your tutoring services, products, online course, or your teaching resources. When you use each blog post as a way to solve a problem for your customers, they’ll likely choose your solutions which will be one of your products or services. Now this doesn’t mean shouting “BUY MY STUFF!” It simply means you’re going to talk about a problem your ideal customer has and present a solution in a non-pushy way. The key is to focus on one problem in each blog post so you’re not overwhelming your readers. I teach this inside Tutorpreneur Academy® as well as From Zero To Cha-Ching. It’s vital to know how to sell and to get good at it!
When you use each blog post as a way to solve a problem for your customers, they’ll likely choose your solutions
Let’s say you’re at your favorite store looking for black leggings. The sales person comes over and strikes up a conversation with you. They seem genuinely curious about what your needs as a customer are. They help you pick out the perfect pair of leggings and get a fitting room for you to try them on. You’re still undecided and the salesperson asks what would make it nonnegotiable to buy the leggings? You stop and think. “Nothing, I need them!” Now, you wouldn’t just leave the store without buying the leggings, right? The same can be said for your blog posts offering the perfect solution to your customers. You’ve created the perfect sight word game that helps kindergarten teachers teach digraphs. So, you blog about the problem students are having with digraphs and pepper in the solution which is YOUR product! The more you practice blogging and solving problems for your ideal customers, the better you will get at it.
