How To Use YouTube To Grow Your Tutoring Business
Before I started my YouTube channel, I was afraid other teachers at my school would make fun of me.
You know, whisper about me in the teacher's lounge something like "Did you see Molly has a YouTube channel now? Why does she think she has anything to say?" Maybe you can relate?
Have you ever worried about what could happen before you tried something new?
I eventually realized that anytime I did a search in Google, a video was the first thing that popped up. That had to mean something, right?
Then the pandemic hit and I decided to go for it. I was home A LOT and wanted to grow my business. I filmed that first video with horrible lighting and sound and cringed while I hit the upload button.
I'm so glad I got past the part of wanting to barf every time I uploaded a video. (The feeling of embarrassment really gets better over time!
YouTube is one of the best ways to grow your tutoring business
So many of my leads come from YouTube and I know that progress over perfection is how you get there. Think about all the people who prefer to watch a video to learn how to do something that you’d be leaving behind. It’s also a quick way to access information versus sitting down to read something. Don’t get me wrong, you know I love blogging! I also love what YouTube can do for your tutoring business by helping you rank higher in the search just by having video content people are searching for! YouTube is an amazing tool to build your tutoring business. It's one of the best ways to generate organic leads and grow your email list.
Become an authority in your tutoring niche and the go-to expert
If you want to book more tutoring clients, one of the best ways to build the like, know, and trust factor is to become the go-to expert in your tutoring niche. YouTube is an excellent way to build authority in your tutoring niche. If you focus on solving problems and pain points of your ideal client, they’ll start coming back to your channel and eventually get hooked and want to work with you. The key is to give away 80% of your content and the best part is left over and that’s working with YOU!
Consistently showing up on YouTube will grow your business over time
Of course I can’t promise you that you’ll become an overnight success with your first video. I can tell you that consistently showing up for your audience on YouTube will grow your business over time. I recommend 1 video per week but you can also start by doing 2 a month. Whatever works better for your schedule so that you’re not overwhelmed and are finding the joy in creating content for your tutoring business!
Provide high value that leads back to booking your tutoring services
The best thing you can do when you’re growing your business on YouTube is to stay in your niche and provide high quality content that leads back to your tutoring services. For example, creating a video called “5 Ways To Avoid The Summer Slide” could involve tutoring as one of the ways. This would be an organic way to talk about your tutoring services without being salesy. I also teach how to grow your tutoring business in my lowest price offer, Tutorpreneur Promo Kit®, which has over 25 editable templates to use to promote your tutoring business and mini lessons on how to edit them.
Solve problems for your ideal client in every video
Of course your tutoring services are the ultimate solution or an amazing TPT product you sell, but the key to getting people to book services or buy from you is by helping solve their problems. You don’t have to give away all your secrets, but it’s important to take a genuine interest in your ideal client’s problems and be that solution for them.
Use YouTube to grow your tutoring business and TPT store at the same time
Use YouTube to grow your tutoring business and TPT store at the same time
If you’re already creating your own teaching resources, then you absolutely need to start selling them on Teachers Pay Teachers. YouTube is a powerful way to grow your tutoring client list while selling your TPT products at the same time. Maybe you have an amazing checklist for teachers for the beginning of the school year that helps with back to school. Talk about that on a YouTube video and also teach parents what they need to know to get their kids ready for school again. See how you can marry both sides of your business on YouTube?
Just remember that growing your tutoring business takes time. If you're in it for the long game, not the short game, you'll start seeing milestones left and right.
