There are tremendous benefits to batching your blog content so keep on reading so you can learn how to create content that serves your audience while allowing you to go on vacation and not have to worry about your blog.
I’m so passionate about utilizing blogging to grow your online teacher business, that I have a whole module dedicated to growing your business with a blog inside Tutorpreneur Academy®. You can learn more about that here.
Batching your blog content makes you free to focus on other parts of your business
Something I started doing over the past year was batching my blog content and my YouTube video content. What I found was it made me so much less anxious about creating content. I was completely free to focus and I wasn’t stressed anymore when I sat down to create content. If you’re currently feeling stressed or overwhelmed when you think about your blog content, it’s likely because you don’t have a plan in place and each week you’re racking your brain thinking of a new idea. Inside Tutorpreneur Academy®, I teach my students content pillars for their online tutoring businesses so they always have an arsenal of content ideas to pull from. Create a list of problems for your ideal customer and from there you’ll start noticing trends. Make blog posts that solve problems for your customer while not giving away all of your secret sauce. Remember the 80/20 rule and you’ll notice increased website traffic and sales to your products and services. My goal for you is to have one month of blog posts batched ahead of time so you are free to focus on growing other parts of your business, especially those passive income streams like your Teachers Pay Teachers store!
Batching allows you to consistently show up for your audience
You may have heard the saying “consistency wins every time.” I couldn’t agree with this more. Let’s say someone else in your niche has amazing blog posts but they’re only posting a few times a year. You have pretty good blog posts and are showing up every week. Which audience do you think is going to be more engaged? Bingo - yours! That’s why it’s important to start your email list early on. Each week you can repurpose your blog content to your email list. When you’re ready to promote a sale, your list will be warm and ready to buy from you. Trying to sell to a nonexistent or cold audience never works. You don’t have to be perfect each week, but you do need to show up consistently for your audience. There’s an entire module inside Tutorpreneur Academy® dedicated to building your email list!
Batching blog content saves you time
If you plan out your content ahead of time, you’ll save time in the long run. You won’t be stressed about when you’ll have time to fit blogging in. I personally put my phone in airplane mode and block off two hours a week just for blogging. It’s a good idea to just start writing and don’t worry about editing while you’re writing. You can have a separate window of time just for editing. Sticking to one task at a time will not only help you get that task done, but your mind won’t be all over the place. It might be worth it to you to have someone outsource that and edit your blog posts separately.
Freedom to focus is priceless in your entrepreneurial journey
Batching allows you to be free to focus which is priceless in your entrepreneurial journey. You’ll notice a huge shift in your mindset while you’re becoming an entrepreneur when you’re free to focus on the tasks at hand. Instead of feeling scattered and making an Instagram post, popping over to Pinterest, or working on your blog, really suck the energy out of you. Creating a system and process for getting your blog posts batched is going to make you feel at ease and in the end more creative in the time you do work on your business.
Find a schedule that works for YOU
Finding a schedule that works for you is a key part of achieving your goals to batch your blog content. Some people like to break it up over the course of the week. Let's say you have an hour each day after school and you can knock one blog post out a day. I personally like to set aside time on the weekends to batch my blog posts because I tutor after school a few days a week and I’m honestly tired from being a classroom teacher during the day. Sometimes I'm energized by working on my business, but most of the time I utilize time blocking to write blog posts. Sometimes I write one or two at a time. My goal is always to be one month ahead in my content. This allows me to send quotes off to my virtual assistant so she can create images for my blog and Pinterest account. I’m a big fan of having my entire year on the wall in my home office and love these calendars to make my vision for the year come to life. I talk about the yearly wall calendars in this blog post.
Time blocking is vital to reaching your batching goals
Setting aside time blocks is a key element to batching content. If you have a 1-4 hour window, set it aside and completely block off that time on your calendar. Put the time block in your Google planner and your paper planner, or digital tutoring planner (anywhere you write down your schedule). This is especially important if you have discovery calls in your tutoring business. The last thing you want is for someone to book a discovery call on your website during your content creation time. This time needs to be sacred and the more intentional you are with your time, the bigger results you’ll achieve.
Have systems and processes in place to grow your blog
Having a system and process in place will make matching much easier. Having a template in Google docs for your blog posts will help streamline your content creation. You won’t have to reinvent the wheel each week if you take the time now to set up those systems. I preach this to my students inside Tutorpreneur Academy® because I know it will make them more successful and not burned out on blogging.
So there you have it. Batching your blog posts will allow you to be free to focus and to spend more time growing other parts of your online tutoring business.
