How I Generated $1,500 In Sales Using Email
If you would have asked me a few years ago if I could make $1,500 in sales in one day using email marketing, I don’t know if I would have believed you. When I first started my business, I didn’t have an email list. I didn’t even know what an email list was. That all changed when I finally started treating my tutoring business like a real business and not a hobby anymore. I hired a coach and got clear on how much money I wanted to earn while teaching full-time. I knew that I could use skills I already had as a teacher and although I didn’t want to quit teaching anytime soon, I wanted my teacher business to make enough money to justify the blood, sweat and tears I was pouring into it.
By the end of this blog post you’re going to feel excited to create your own offer so you can have a sales day this big too! Keep in mind that I’m a full-time teacher who runs an online tutoring business with multiple streams of income. If I can do it, so can you!
It all started with a $97 offer
The offer that generated $1,500 in sales in one day using email was an online course priced at $97. $97 is an excellent price point because it’s affordable by being in reach for your ideal customer. It’s not too expensive and a great entry level cost to work with you. My advice for having a $97 offer is having tremendous value that your ideal customer can’t pass up. The goal is to give your customer so many great things that they’ll be chomping at the bit to come back for any offers you have down the road. If you decide to create a signature course, these will be your people coming back for more. Your ideal customer will be more likely to buy from you because you’ll be known for creating amazing courses. In my $97 course, From Zero To Cha-Ching, I teach teachers how to create resources that sell. My goal was to create something that was super affordable with high value because I know teachers work hard for every dollar they earn and they deserve to learn all the tips and tricks of creating Teachers Pay Teachers resources.
Start with a lower priced offer with extremely high value
It’s tempting to price your offer higher because you want to make more money. I totally get that. However, your goal is to build your email list before you start making money off of an online course, membership or product. One of the best ways to make money while growing your email list is to start with a lower priced offer like a $97 mini course, membership, or product. Another price point that I would recommend is $47 because it’s an introductory price to work with you while you’re still providing high value to your ideal customer. You’ll be cementing the like, know and trust factor for your teacher brand and your tribe will keep coming back to you.
Start talking about your offer before you create it
One of my best secrets of selling an offer is to start talking about it before it’s created. That might sound crazy at first, but trust me, it’s one of the best marketing strategies out there. If your Instagram account and bio is optimized (something I teach inside Tutorpreneur Academy®, you’ll be attracting your ideal customer and easily be able to talk about your offer before it’s created and presell it. Likely your offer is going to be something you’ve had success with. Start showing proof that your methods work by sharing how you reached your goal. For example, I shared proof that I was making consistent sales in my TPT store while teaching full-time. I wasn’t promising teachers they could make 6-figures selling their resources, but I was promising they could make consistent monthly income while teaching full-time. My goal was to show teachers who are running a tutoring business that you can create multiple streams of income that are passive in addition to working with your clients inside your tutoring business. One of my products even helped me win an all expenses paid trip to study birds in Maine. You can watch my YouTube video here where I explain how I won a free trip!
I started sharing a few details of my new offer and curiosity got the best of people and before I knew it, 16 people had signed up for my new offer in one day! I sent emails to my list about my offer and that combined with talking about From Zero To Cha-Ching on Instagram, I hit $1,500 in sales in one day! I didn’t use paid ads and chose to market my offer organically by posting and making videos about it as well as using my email list to pitch the offer.
Instagram stories are one of the best ways to build connections with your audience. If you’re looking for a way to talk about your offer on social media, you’ll love Tutorpreneur Promo Kit® because not only will you get over 25 editable social media templates, but there’s short lessons on how to use them. This mini course is perfect for you if you’re looking for a way to grow your tutoring business and pitch your first $97 offer!
Test your offer with a beta group so you can get testimonials for your product or course
A beta group is a way to test out a new product or idea to your ideal customer. In exchange for an all access pass to the course, you’ll be getting amazing feedback to make the course better. The beta member gets the course at a lower price and you’ll get testimonials which are gold for your teacher business. If you’re looking for a way to collect testimonials, check out this blog post so you can steal my strategy!
Add extra bonuses that only beta group members can receive. For example, in From Zero To Cha-Ching, my beta group members receive free group coaching, access to me if they have any questions, and product audits so they can optimize their first listings in their TPT stores! This not only helps them grow their TPT store, but it helps me optimize my course and give my ideal customer exactly what they need to create teaching resources that sell.
Be your own hype person. If you’re not talking about your offer with excitement, no one will sign up.
If you’re not excited about your offer, then you can’t expect other people to be! Start creating a lot of hype around your offer by showing social proof that your methods work.
Remember to sell something like this, you have to have an email list. I created a lot of hype in my weekly email so my list was primed and ready to go when the offer was available. I wanted to keep my first beta group under 20 people so I could give those members the highest level of support inside the course.
Inside Tutorpreneur Academy®, I teach you how to start and grow your email list with my own proven strategies which helped me sell $1,500 in one day with a beta group offer.
Create hype in your weekly emails with a killer call to action for your offer
I can’t stress this point enough. Create hype in your weekly emails so there’s a roadmap to what you’re offering. Combine that with a killer call to action for your offer and you have a recipe for a full beta group.
This is possible for you too! If I can do it, so can you
Just remember that your business will grow over time. Slow and steady wins the race. Create your $97 offer with high value and a roadmap to success for your ideal client and your beta group will fill up. If I can do it, so can you!
