The Simple Solution to Running a Successful Tutoring Business

The simple solution to running a successful tutoring business.jpg

I was sitting at my computer staring at the 10th email that just popped up with a potential tutoring client’s parent.  She had soooo many questions and I was exhausted from answering her.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good email, but there had to be a better way to answer all her questions and avoid this Marco Polo game we’d begun.

And that’s when it hit me.  I didn’t have a system and process in place for dealing with new tutoring client inquiries.  I also didn’t have my boundaries established.  Clearly. (Something I now teach in the Tutorpreneur Academy™)

Brené Brown said it best, “When we fail to set boundaries and hold people accountable, we feel used and mistreated.”

A simple solution to repeating myself while also establishing boundaries was just the system I needed.

That’s where a tutoring contract came in.  It was a one-stop shop for not only putting my boundaries in place, but it made me feel like a total badass having a legal document for my business.

An added bonus was a well-written tutoring contract eliminates wasted time with back and forth emails.

Annnnd since I’m not a lawyer, I had a lawyer make the template for me so I could sleep at night knowing it was airtight and legit.

A legally written tutoring contract takes the guesswork out by explaining all your policies in one place.

You could definitely make a contract on your own.  I personally wanted the piece of mind that a lawyer can provide.

No more awkward conversations about money and what you charge, when you tutor and what your sessions are like.

If you’re trying to prepare one on your own, make a list of your non-negotiable boundaries.  This is a great place to start because it shows you what you will and won’t put up with.  For example, how will you handle clients who are late or no-shows?

You see how there’s a lot to think about when you creating your own tutoring contract?

Stop wasting your precious time sending back and forth emails and create a tutoring contract that does all the work for you.
